Our Surveying Methods
HydroMapper combines various surveying technologies to completely capture complex structures.

Data Fusion: The complete structural model
Once data collection is complete, the crucial next step is data fusion. Individual scanning methods only provide a partial view of the structure on their own—HydroScan captures the underwater sections, LaserScan maps the splash zone and upper structure, and HD-Mapping delivers aerial imaging of the surfaces.
HydroMapper merges all three datasets into a single, georeferenced model. The transition zone between above-water and underwater—practically the most critical area for corrosion and damage—is mapped seamlessly. The result is a complete digital twin of the structure, leaving zero gaps in your inspection data.
The fusion is performed within the same coordinate system, typically ETRS89/UTM or the respective national reference system. This keeps all your data directly GIS-compatible and ready for seamless integration into your existing system architectures.
From surveying to the digital twin: creating your building model
The collected data can be seamlessly integrated into InfraCloud, where you can visualize and analyze structures in 3D. You can also easily add supplementary information like photos, plans, or documents.

Areas of Application

Ports & quay walls
Comprehensive, full-surface condition assessment of sheet pile walls, pile grates, and quay walls. This includes detecting deformations, measuring wall thickness, and identifying damages in compliance with VV-WSV 2101.

Waterways & Locks
Structural inspection according to VV-WSV 2101 for locks, weirs, and canal sections. Detection of scour, slope failures, and reinforcement damage.

Bridges & Bridge Foundations
Underwater inspection of bridge foundations and piles. Structural assessment according to DIN 1076. Settlement and deformation analysis.

Industrial plants
Mapping of cooling water intakes, discharge structures, berths, and waterfront facilities. Also includes inventory assessments for plant engineering and design.

Dams & Reservoirs
Condition assessment of the water face, including bed bathymetry. Detection of erosion damage, crack patterns, and deformations on dams and pre-dams.

Special Structures
Pipe bridges, siphons, dam structures, pumping stations, hydropower plants – we design a tailormade measurement campaign for every single structure.

Waterfront & hydraulic structures
Multibeam + Total Station + Surface Water Surveying
Georeferenced Point Clouds & DTMs
Comprehensive digital surveying of approximately 45 kilometers of waterfront and hydraulic structures, conducted without disrupting ongoing vessel traffic. The resulting 3D data serves as a robust foundation for structural inspections, asset management, and future maintenance planning.

Rostock Port Facility
Public port operator
1 km of quay walls
HydroScan + Photogrammetry + Laser Scanning
Monitoring & Remaining Useful Life
High-resolution mapping of approximately 1 km of harbor structures, both above and below water. Point cloud comparisons and permanent monitoring points provide a solid foundation for structural inspections, remaining service life assessments, and future rehabilitation planning.

Hamburg Quay Wall
Public port operator
200 m quay wall with wooden pile foundation
HydroScan + HD Mapping + AeroVision
Target-vs-Actual Comparisons & Quantity Calculation
High-resolution as-built survey of an approximately 200-meter-long quay wall with a historical timber pile foundation. The generated 3D data serves as the foundation for damage analysis, rehabilitation planning, and future structural engineering measures.
